ICCDA #1

The 1st ICCDA 2015

The Faculty of Engineering, Sultan Agung Islamic University (UNISSULA), has held an International Seminar with the theme “Issues, Management and Engineering in The Sustainable Development on Delta Areas” on Friday, 20th February 2015. This seminar was held as part of UNISSULA’s active participation in offering thoughts, input, proposals, and solutions to numerous delta-related challenges. Flooding, pollution, over-exploitation of natural resources, coastline erosion, habitat deterioration, conversion of protected areas to other development purposes, and natural disasters are among the issues.

The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (Ir. Basoeki Hadi Moeljono, M.Sc, Ph.D) served as Keynote Speaker at this international seminar, which also featured papers from experts on delta area problems from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (Prof. Rick Heikoop), Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences (Prof. Steven Starman), and Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Arthur Hoogduin, Liliane Geerling, and Marlies Eenennaam). Apart from that, this conference welcomed researchers from various universities and practitioners from both within and beyond the country to provide ideas and solutions to various challenges in the delta region.

Furthermore, in a series of international seminars, the Faculty of Engineering at UNISSULA has also signed Letters of Intent (LOI) with several universities from the Netherlands through collaboration with a study center called the Delta Center. Additionally, a presentation was given by NUFFIC NESO, in this case Nuffic Neso Indonesia, which manages bilateral cooperation scholarships between the Dutch and Indonesian governments. These include the Orange Tulip Scholarship, which is intended for Indonesian students and professionals and is a cooperation scholarship with various universities in Netherlands and other organizations like companies or Ministries, and the StuNed scholarship, which is intended for Indonesian citizens.
